Democratic Precinct Delegate

Lansing, Michigan

What is a precinct?

During Michigan’s August 6 election, I was voted in by our neighbors to be a Democratic Precinct Delegate for our electoral area, formally known as Ward 4, Precinct 32 (or “4-32”).

A voting precinct, sometimes called a voting district, is the name for each smaller area that a city or county divides into for the purpose of voting.

City of Lansing district 4-32 is shown here in this map, with the precinct boundary outlined in dark blue and the Election Day polling place represented by the green square.

What is a Precinct Delegate?

If you voted in the August 6th election, you probably saw the section “Delegate to County Convention” on the backside of your ballot. This was the Precinct Delegate race.

A Precinct Delegate is elected directly by the voters in their neighborhood to serve as the voice for that neighborhood to the political party they represent.

I live with my family in our neighborhood and serve as the liaison between you and the Democratic Party.

I vote on your behalf at the county and state Democratic meetings and Conventions, to elect district and state party leadership, nominate candidates for major state offices, and elect national delegates.

I stay informed about voting options, local issues and candidates running for office to share that information with you, while serving as the eyes and ears of our community to identify needs and concerns to share with elected officials.

I’m excited and honored to do this work on behalf of our neighborhood but in order to do it well, I need to hear from you!

What can I do for you?
  • Answer your questions about voting
  • Help you register to vote
  • Walk you through the voting process step-by-step
  • Remind you about upcoming elections & deadlines
  • Help you view your ballot before election day
  • Provide information on candidates or answer questions about your ballot
  • Take your questions, comments and concerns regarding officials, candidates or proposals directly to Democratic Party leadership
  • Help you track down stickers, literature and yard signs for the Democratic candidates of your choice
  • Find or schedule meet & greets with candidates or elected officials for you to hear from or discuss with in person

A Short Bio

I was raised in northern Minnesota, which ensured that I would never love another part of the U.S. as much as I love the Great Lakes region.

I served in the United States Navy, working as a police officer, anti-terrorism & force-protection officer, and Field Training Officer within the U.S. Fleet Forces Command, headquartered in Norfolk, Virginia. While serving on active duty I also attended college, earning my bachelor's degree in criminal justice from Old Dominion University.

Desperately missing the upper mid-west, I landed in Michigan in 2012 after being accepted to pursue my master's in criminal justice at Michigan State University. I also ended up pursuing a born & raised Lansing resident, who would later become my husband.

Despite a couple moves around the country for work, something always brought us back to Lansing. Which is why we decided to raise our family here. Now, I reside in the Quentin Park area with my husband, 2 children and, until recently, my 3 beloved dogs.

This city has become a special and dear home to our family, which is why I feel obligated and honored to serve my neighbors and neighborhood.
